Market Update - Thursday 04/12/18 4:00 PM EDT

Again, trading was dominated by the SkyNet StockBots. Today, the day belonged to the BuyBots, pushing stocks sharply higher. The DJIA soared 293 points (1.2%) and the NASDAQ jumped 71 points (1.0%).

Market Update - Wednesday 04/11/18 4:00 PM EDT

Again, trading was dominated by the SkyNet StockBots. Today, the SellBots took control right out of the gate and pushed stocks sharply lower, as the human being pundits were again fixated on Facebook wunderkind Mark Zuckerberg's testimony in front of Congress. The DJIA sank 219 points (0.9%) and the NASDAQ slipped 25 points (0.4%).

Market Update - Tuesday 04/10/18 4:00 PM EDT

Again, trading was dominated by the SkyNet StockBots. The BuyBots were in control right out of the gate and pushed stocks sharply higher again, as the human being pundits were fixated on Facebook wunderkind Mark Zuckerberg's testimony in front of Congress. The DJIA jumped up 429 points (1.8%) and the NASDAQ zoomed higher by 44 points (2.0%).

Market Update - Monday 04/09/18 4:00 PM EDT

Again, trading was dominated by the SkyNet StockBots. The BuyBots were in control right out of the gate and pushed stocks sharply higher, recovering much of Friday's plunge. With the DJIA up 444 points, the SellBots took over and sent stocks south, wiping out most of the day's gains. The DJIA ended up 46 points (0.2%) and the NASDAQ added 35 points (0.5%).

Market Update - Friday 04/06/18 4:00 PM EDT

In a complete reversal of yesterday's battle, the SkyNet SellBots ruled the day,  sending US stocks steadily lower throughout the day. The DJIA plunged 572 points (2.3%) and the NASDAQ tumbled 161 points (2.3%).

Market Update - Thursday 04/05/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet BuyBots ruled the day, sending US stocks steadily higher throughout the day. The DJIA lead the way, surging 241 points (1.0%). The NASDAQ added 34 points (0.5%).

As of 8:00 PM EDT tonight, the SkyNet SellBots are fighting back, sending US stock futures down sharply. The DJIA futures are down 425 points and the NASDAQ is down 100 points.

Market Update - Wednesday 04/04/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet SellBots worked overtime on the overnight shift, sending US stock futures down about 2%. But when trading opened in New York, the BuyBots put an end to that and completely dominated the day. The DJIA, down over 500 points as the session opened, headed straight up and closed 231 points (1.0%) higher. The NASDAQ zoomed 100 points (1.4%).

Market Update - Tuesday 04/03/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet BuyBots controlled most of the action today, recovering a good bit of yesterday's sharp losses. The BuyBots kicked into high gear in the final hour adding to the gains. The DJIA lead the way, jumping 390 points (1.6%). The NASDAQ tacked on 71 points (1.0%).

Market Update - Monday 04/02/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet SellBots controlled most of the action today, sending stocks sharply lower. The BuyBots stepped in in the final hour to cut the day's losses. The DJIA, plunging more than 750 points earlier, closed down "only" 459 points (1.9%). The NASDAQ, in the tank by 225 points at mid-afternoon, recovered a hair in the final hour to close down "only" 193 points (2.7%).

Market Update - Thursday 03/29/18 4:00 PM EDT

US stocks zigged and zagged their way higher as the SkyNet BuyBots controlled most of the action. The DJIA jumped 254 points (1.0%). and the NASDAQ recovered 114 points (1.6%) today.

Market Update - Wednesday 03/28/18 4:00 PM EDT

US stocks zigged and zagged all over the place to close mixed. The DJIA slipped 9 points (0.1%). Unable to mount even a "dead-cat bounce" following yesterday's 211 point (2.9%) plunge, the NASDAQ dropped another 60 points (0.9%) today.

Market Update - Tuesday 03/27/18 4:00 PM EDT

It was a real battle of the SkyNet Stock Bots today. The BuyBots pushed US stocks sharply higher in the morning, continuing yesterday's massive rally. But almost to the minute at noon EDT, the SellBots jumped into action and sent stock tumbling. The DJIA plunged almost 700 points before settling in to close down 345 points (1.4%). The NASDAQ really took it on the chin, getting whacked by 211 points (2.9%), surrendering almost all of yesterday's gain.

Market Update - Monday 03/26/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet BuyBots were out in full force today, obliterating any resistance from stubborn bears . US stocks opened to the upside and just kept on going into a very strong close. The DJIA zoomed higher by 669 points (2.8%). The NASDAQ soared 227 points (3.3%).

Market Update - Friday 03/23/18 4:00 PM EDT

The SkyNet SellBots were out in full force again today, obliterating any resistance from stubborn bulls. US stocks opened to the upside, but the Dead Cat Bounce quickly faded, and the selling accelerated in mid afternoon again. Stocks closing at the much lower lows of the day, with the DJIA plunging another 425 points (1.8%). The NASDAQ repeated yesterday's mini-crash, tanking 175 points (2.4%).

In just the last 2 1/2 days, the DJIA has crated 1,400 points (5.6%) and the NASDAQ 403 points (5.6%).

Stay tuned, Monday promises to feature some major fireworks. In which direction, we sure don't know, and anybody who claims to know is just blowing smoke.

The SkyNet Sellbots were out in full force today, obliterating any resistance from stubborn bulls. US stocks opened lower and the selling accelerated in mid afternoon, closing at the much lower lows of the day. The DJIA plunged 724 points (2.9%) and the NASDAQ followed suit, tanking 175 points (2.4%).

The overnight stock futures are pointing down sharply at 9:00 PM EDT, so the selling pressure may continue Friday morning.

US stocks opened higher but then hit the brakes when Donald Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and then vetoed a proposed Broadcom-Qualcomm merger. The DJIA dropped 172 points (0.7%) and the "tech-heavy" NASDAQ plunged 77 points (1.0%).

US stocks zigged and zagged and ended mixed, with the NASDAQ surging to a record high. The DJIA dropped 157 points (0.6%) and the NASDAQ gained 27 points (0.4%).

US stocks zigged and zagged and closed modestly higher. The DJIA added 9 points (0.1%) and the NASDAQ led the way higher by 41 points (0.6%).

There should be some fireworks tomorrow morning, on the heels of presidential economic adviser Gary Cohn resigning post market close. DJIA futures are down 379 points at 8:00 PM EST.

Market Update - Friday 03/02/18 4:00 PM EST

US stocks opened sharply lower again, extending the near-panic selling of the last three days. The SkyNet bulls finally caught a bid and mounted a rally. The DJIA zigged and zagged all over the place, and ended down "only" 70 points (0.3%), to bring its four-day plunge to 1,175 points or 4.5%. The NASDAQ outperformed and jumped 77 points (1.0%).

Market Update - Thursday 03/01/18 4:00 PM EST

US stocks got whacked badly for the third straight day. About the only relatively good news for the perma-bulls is that stocks did not close at the rock bottom low of the day, as with the two previous days.

Today's catalyst was fears over Donald Trump's proposal to impose hefty tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. 
The DJIA plunged another 420 points (1.7%) to bring its three-day mini-crash total to an even 1,100 points or 4.2%. The NASDAQ ranked 92 points (1.3%).

The trillion dollar question remains: are the BearBots truly in control, or are the SkyNet Bulls ready to mount a counter-offensive?

Market Update - Wednesday 02/28/18 4:00 PM EST

Is it too soon to call it "The Jerome Powell Bear Market?" US stocks tried to rebound from yesterday's drubbing, but the rally failed and again stocks dropped through the floor. The DJIA plunged 381 points (1.5%) and the NASDAQ got whacked for 58 points (0.8%).

The trillion dollar question remains: are the BearBots truly in control, or are the SkyNet Bulls ready to terminate the resistance.

US stocks did not take too kindly to newbie Fed Head Jerome Powell's congressional performance today. Following his debut, stocks hit the "Down" button and closed at rock bottom lows of the day.

The DJIA plunged 299 points (1.2%) and the NASDAQ tanked 91 points (1.3%).

Market Update - Friday 02/09/18 4:00 PM EST

"Volatile" doesn't even begin to describe the wild action on Wall Street today.


For the second time this week, the DJIA swung more than1,000 points intraday, from 500 up to 500 down, finally settling up 330 points (1.4%). The NASDAQ ended up 97 points (1.4%).

Market Update - Thursday 02/08/18 4:00 PM EST

It is getting truly nasty on Wall Street. The selling accelerated today, sending stocks down, and down, and then down some more. The DJIA plunged 1,032 points (4.2%) and the NASDAQ cratered 275 points (3.9%).

The infamous "technical indicators" are indicating the markets are very oversold on a short-term basis, but in a full-fledged bear market there's very little to stop them from getting even more oversold before a bounce. But what do we know. All that we can say is in a bear market, "expect the unexpected."

Market Update - Wednesday 02/07/18 4:00 PM EST

It was another wild whiplash day on Wall Street, As stocks zigged and zagged all over the place to end modestly lower.

The DJIA were higher by 381 points in early afternoon, only to plunge all the way down into negative territory for the day. The DJIA ended down 19 points (0.1%). The NASDAQ sank 64 points (0.9%).

Market Update - Tuesday 02/06/18 4:00 PM EST

"Whiplash!" That's the only way to describe the wildly volatile trading action on Wall Street today.

The DJIA opened down more than 500 points, but quickly reversed and bounced all over the place before finally zooming higher into the close, ending up 567 points (2.3%). The NASDAQ jumped 148 points (2.1%).

Though today's rally was impressive, it barely retraced half of Monday's mini-crash.

Market Update - Monday 02/05/18 4:00 PM EST

On Friday we said:

"Stay tuned, Monday has the potential to be very ugly!"

Ugly indeed, as panic selling started to set in.  The markets slid sharply at the open, and kept on sliding. There were a few failed rally attempts during the day, but clearly the bears have arisen from their very long hibernation.

The "good" news is that the DJIA closed down "only" 1,175 points (4.6%) It had been down almost 1,600 points about an hour before the close.  The NASDAQ ended down a stunning 273 points (3.8%).

And the proverbial Fat Lady isn't signing yet. The DJIA futures are down another 375 points at 5:00 PM EST. Wall Street's worries are extending to Asia, as the Nikkei 225 futures are down 8% ahead of Tuesday's open.

Market Update - Friday 02/02/18 4:00 PM EST

Concerns about rising interest rates and perhaps the now infamous FISA Memo sent US stocks plunging, in the largest drop in several years.The DJIA mini-crashed a devilish 666 points (2.5%) and the NASDAQ got rocked by 145 points (2.0%).
